Safe Soil is a start-up company out of West Sacramento that turns food waste into soil by using a very special method – enzymes.
Recently, the company raised $60,000 for capitol in a private offering.
The company plans to sell the soil to farmers in an effort to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers. It will also reduce the volume of fertilizer that runs off into waterways.
In traditional composting, food scraps take months to safely convert into usable soil. But, Safe Soil’s brand new method converts the scraps in just three hours, with the help of enzymes that digest the food.
The company’s first plant is stationed in West Sacramento and receives its organic waste from a variety of stores including Safeway, Whole Foods, Nugget Market, and Save Mart.
We couldn’t be happier to see a start-up business that is already doing so well for itself and positively impacting the environment at the same time.
What do you think about Safe Soil’s innovative new process?
