What was once the Detroit Science Center has now reopened as the “Michigan Science Center” at the same location on John R and Warren roads in Detroit, MI. On the path to bankruptcy, the science center had closed due to mismanagement. However, former Republican National Committee Finance Chair, Ron Weiser bought out the property and sold it back as a loss, to hold off foreclosure.
The center now relies heavily on volunteers and corporate donations like Toyota, GM, Ford, and others, to keep it running. These donations and help from around the city have made it possible for children to experience real science right in Detroit.
The Michigan Science Center’s mission is to inspire kids and families to go after careers in the science, stem cell technology, engineering, and math fields.
