Prosecution |
|
The Alameda County District Attorney's Office assigns an Assistant District Attorney full-time to CALICO. The ADA observes interviews and assists the detective and child welfare worker in making collaborative decisions about the investigation. |

Law Enforcement |
|
CALICO collaborates with 19 Law Enforcement Agencies and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office. While each agency has a unique structure, each has a team of detectives responsible for responding to child abuse cases. The detectives investigate facts of the case and participate in the interview process. The outcome of this process helps to determine what action will be taken against the alleged perpetrator. |

Social Services |
|
The Alameda County Department of Children and Family Services investigates reports of abuse and neglect of children, particularly when caregivers are involved. Additional functions: |
They also provide services to children and families in their homes, contract with other agencies for specialized services, place children in foster care or adoptive homes, and provide services to youth in foster care to make the transition to adulthood. |
Community Care Licensing conducts similar investigations when abuse occurs in daycare settings. |

Victim/Witness |

Members of the Victim/Witness Consultant Unit of the District Attorney's Office rotate through the CALICO office weekly. At CALICO, they provides crisis intervention, resource and referral counseling, and assist families in completing a Victim of Crime Compensation Application. If criminal charges are filed, a Consultant provides support to the victim and his/her family in court and throughout the legal process. |

Medical and Mental Health |
|
Children's Hospital and Research Center of Oakland Center for Child Protection, provides medical and psychological support to victims of sexual, physical, or emotional abuse and neglect and their families. Services are available around the clock. The center provides follow-up medical care, reporting to CFS/Police, victim/witness assistance program, crisis intervention and educational programs for parents and professionals. Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services provides a comprehensive network of integrated programs and services for children and youth with serious psychiatric disabilities. |

Alameda County Family Justice Center |
|
CALICO is an on-site partner with the Alameda County Family Justice Center. Opened in August 2005, ACFJC is a collaboration of dozens of not-for-profit and public agencies that provide free, comprehensive services in one setting to adult and child victims of family violence including:

- Crisis intervention, survivor support, and victim advocacy
- Legal assistance services
- Medical care and mental health counseling for victims and children impacted by family violence
- Employment assistance, and information and referral to other community services
- Law enforcement investigation and prosecution of offenders

California Network of Child Advocacy Centers |
|
CALICO is also a participant in the California Network of Child Advocacy Centers. Through quarterly meeting, CALICO shares information and resources with other interviewing centers across the state, has access to training and funding opportunities, and participates in legislative activities. |
