How does Bing work?
With Bing, you can safely and securely backup your computer data using the unused space on friends and family computers. Here’s how:
1. You choose the pictures, documents, and Mp3’s that you want to keep safe and pick which of your buddies have enough free space on their computers.
2. Then Bing copies, compresses, encrypts and sends the file to your backup buddy’s computer for safekeeping. No one but you will be able to view your data.

How do I install the software?
Download the Bing software to your desktop and follow the easy installation process. It’ll tell you what to do and when.
What should I back up?
Now that we’re storing more and more of our lives on the computer, there tends to be a lot of digital stuff that we couldn’t live without. Photos, presentations, Quicken® files, MS Money® files, Mp3’s, brilliant ideas, emails, and so on.
You should backup whatever you feel that you’d miss if your computer went kaput...as they are known to do.
What platforms are compatible with Bing?
Bing is Windows only right now but we are rapidly developing a version for the Macintosh. Hang tight Mac people!
Everyday Bing
Does my computer need to be online to perform a backup?
Yes – your data is stored and protected via the Internet when your computer is idle.
How often are the backups performed?
You can schedule backups to occur as often as you like. Although once a week seems like the most popular system. After you complete your first backup, Bing only backs up what is new or has changed. It’s faster that way.
How do I know how much space is available to me?
Bing does it for you. Check out how much space each Backup Buddy has available by clicking on their name on the My Buddy’s screen.
You can also view how much space you have provided your Backup Buddies by visiting the My Storage section. Here you can view and adjust the total amount you’ve made available and the amount each individual buddy is using, set limits if they start to get too greedy.
Is there any limit to the amount of stuff I can backup?
No – that’s the beauty of Bing – backups are free and unlimited. Since each backup buddy is offering you their unused computer space, you are only limited by the number of friends you get to sign up and the available space on their computers.
What if I try to backup more files than I have room for?
If your backup is larger than the space your buddy has set aside for you, you will receive a message from Bing including suggestions on how to make the backup successful
How do I know if my backup was successful?
Bing will generate a message telling you that your backup was successful. Plus, you can always view status of any of your backups by visiting the My Backups section of our product.
How do I delete things from Bing or add to it?
Easy. Just select the backup that you want to change and add or delete the data as you wish.
Most Bing members choose to back-up entire folders instead of individual files. This way, every time they add, remove, or change something in that folder, it’s automatically protected during the next regularly scheduled backup.
What happens if I delete a file on my computer in a folder that is backed up by Bing?
A copy of that file will remain on your buddy’s computer. If the deletion was an accident, you can always retrieve that file from your buddy’s computer. If that is the case, we suggest that you retrieve these files immediately for maximum safety.
Do you backup open files on my computer?
No, we backup only the last saved version of your files.
In The Event Of Data Loss
How do I restore my files after an accident, disaster or theft?
You can restore your data in four simple steps
One: Go to the Restore section on Bing and choose the data you want to retrieve.
Two: Choose where you want to put your restored data.
Three: Select which buddy’s computer you want to access. If your buddy’s computer isn’t online, you may want to give him/her a call to speed things up.
Four: Kick back and relax while all your data is restored. Depending on the amount of data, this may take a few hours.
How long will my data be saved? Recovered?
Forever. There are no limits with Bing
Miscellaneous
How can I restore a deleted Bing icon to my desktop?

How do I change my password?
Good question. We’re working on an answer.
How do I de-install Bing?
Go to the control panel on your computer and select “Add or Remove Programs” Select Bing from the list and Uninstall. We’re sorry to see you go and would love to get your feedback.
Is there a version of this for small businesses?
We just have this one product for now. If you have suggestions or an idea for a new product, please shoot them over.
Can Bing or my buddies see my data?
Absolutely not! Neither Bing nor your buddies can access your data. Here’s why: Your files are encrypted/decrypted with a key that is generated from the password you choose. This key is stored on your computer and is different than your password, so even if someone guesses your password, your data is safe.
Is Bing really free?
You bet! Unlike other backup services, there are no storage limits with Bing. You needn’t worry about your backup needs growing in the future because Bing will always allow free, unlimited backups.
We will be adding more features that will be offered for a subscription fee in the near future. If you have any ideas for these, we’re all ears.
Won’t you go out of business?
No, the cost of running this service is remarkably low (kind of like Skype). Because so few people protect their computer data we decided to offer them to you for free.
We hope you enjoy it!
