Wheel Media is proud to partner with The Freedom Network USA, a distinguished professional network to fight against human rights violations in human trafficking. The Freedom Network is doing amazing work in the field of human trafficking, and has established a national alliance of experienced advocates working with survivors of all forms of human trafficking. The organization strives to ensure that trafficked persons have access to justice, safety and opportunity.
Human Trafficking Defined
Human trafficking is exemplified in many forms, through unjust forced labor coercion, entrapment, commercial sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, and other forms. The United Nations defines trafficking as “the recruitment, transport, transfer, harboring or receipt of a person by such means as threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, or fraud or deception for the purpose of exploitation.” Human trafficking is identified through the examinations of the action, means, and the purpose, with the ultimate purpose of human trafficking always denoting exploitation of an individual.
Freedom Network USA has brought together top representatives to ensure that trafficked victims are first and foremost treated as victims rather than criminals. The organization increases public awareness through education, research and training, and engages in advocacy with local, national and international governments and entities.
